Tofu Dressing for better Salad

I love sweet and sour dressing. Most of the recipes I found are made from raw yolks like mayonnaise.  Since the bird flu urged last few years. I’m quite scared to put raw egg in my food. So this dressing I use silken tofu for the yolk and the taste is just right for me. It’s best to dress with fresh mixed veggie and fruit salad with some of boiled grains like barley, red kidney beans, and corns.

Ingredients

  • Silken Tofu            120 g
  • Sugar                ¼ cup
  • Lemon juice            ¼ cup
  • Fresh ground black pepper    ½ tsp
  • Salt                1-1½  tsp
  • Olive Oil            ½ cup
  • Fresh salad as your choice

How to make

  1. Blend all ingredients except olive oil in the blender.  Blend until smooth.
  2. While the blender is working, slowly pour olive oil to mix in. The mixture will get thicken, process another 1 minute.
  3. Serve with fresh salad as your choice.
  4. This dressing can be refrigerated in an air tight container for 1-2 weeks.

I hope you enjoy with my recipe.

@Byn, so glad that you like this recipe. If you don’t like sweetness, you can reduce or cut sugar from the recipe for replacement of mayo.

Wow. I’ve been looking for a replacement for thick unhealthy mayo in dressings! This looks perfect. I can see I’m going to be buying more tofu. I am so glad to have found your blog!!

Yes Beatrix it’s for another alternative choice of dressing. I like balsamic dressing too but prefer little sweet and sour creamy one :) .

Looks great…a healthier alternative to creamy dressings… I prefer balsamic dressings though.
